Why do I need a nursing pillow?
In Germany, almost every mother has been using a nursing pillow for many years. Often, these practical tools are purchased during pregnancy or given as a gift before the baby is born. So what could be more obvious than letting the users speak for themselves and quoting from one of the many testimonials available online:
"When I was pregnant, there came a day when every sleeping position was simply uncomfortable. I quickly ended up with the nursing pillows from the brand Theraline, as they promised to be particularly quiet... It was a completely different sleeping experience... The pillow is suitable during pregnancy, essential during nursing time, and can also be used later for reading or similar activities." (Source: online rating at dooyoo)
When should I buy a nursing pillow?
The best time is in the 6th or 7th month of your pregnancy. Because: the earlier, the sooner you give your belly and legs the pleasant support and relaxation they need for a restful sleep.
What size should the pillow be?
A nursing pillow can hardly be too large before pregnancy. But the right filling is also important, so that the pillow supports you stably and comfortably in every position. Later on, a large pillow is also beneficial, for example, during breastfeeding, lying down, or if you want to breastfeed your baby for a longer time when your little girl or boy has already become quite chubby.
Psst! Listen up!
Feel and hear it for yourself! Just touch the pillow and you will be convinced. No other filling conforms so perfectly to the body while providing such good support at the same time. Our original filling with microbeads is fine as sand, makes little noise, and adapts perfectly like no other filling. Because rustling sounds not only disturb you while sleeping, but your baby will also have their ears on it later...
And after the baby stage?
As with many other things, high quality not only creates more attractiveness and a longer lifespan, but it also makes the nursing pillow even more versatile. For example, with the secure zipper of the original Theraline Nursing Pillow, you can choose the filling for your favorite application or simply refill the pillow. And the extra thick, washable cover ensures that you can still enjoy your pillow even after many years. Many families even buy a second or third Theraline pillow because everyone in the house wants a pillow for reading, lounging, and relaxing.
Why is the original Theraline nursing pillow number one in Europe?
The pillow has many advantages. It not only has the finest filling but also beautiful quality covers with a good price/quality ratio. There are still suppliers who do not sufficiently treat their pearl filling – or in the case of particularly cheap products – do not treat it at all against harmful off-gassing. We strongly advise to smell the nursing pillow well before purchasing to exclude harmful substances. If the pillow has a slight smell of plastic or glue, you should not buy the pillow. The consumer association and ÖKO-TEST® have repeatedly warned against such pillows.
With us, you run no risk: Theraline nursing pillows have always been odorless and were the first pillows to be rated "very good" by ÖKO-TEST® for the pearl filling. And they still carry the TÜV mark for controlled quality.

Maintenance and washing
The pillow and the cover made of 100% cotton can be washed at up to 60°C. However, please pay attention to the label on the pillow and the cover before washing. Warranty claims are void if the pillow is not used or washed with a cover, as any defects may cause the filling to come out. Additionally, you should carefully check the pillow for any openings or broken seams before washing.
Tip: Those who do not have a laundry bag large enough can also use the cover for this purpose. With new covers and bright colors, the colors may bleed slightly during washing and end up on the pillow. However, this does not reduce their usability.
Note: If you use a dryer, set it to the lowest setting and ensure that the pillow has enough space. The pillow should be able to move freely in the washing machine and dryer. If necessary, remove some of the filling from the pillow (see below: "refilling and emptying"). Especially with a new pillow, this makes it easier to place it in the washing machine.
Tip: Turn the duvet cover inside out and close the zipper. Do not wash or dry together with differently colored laundry.
Note:
Released filling material can affect the airways. Released filling material can damage your washing machine.
Tips for quick tracing:
Hold a point of 15-20 cm up at the top of the cushion. The filling will then fall completely down into the lower part of the cushion. Now press the point you are holding all the way into the cover. When you turn the cushion, hold the inner lining on the outside with one hand. After the filling has settled in the lower part, grab a point on the other side and slide the cushion all the way back in until the end. Now you just need to evenly distribute the filling over both ends of the cushion, and then you can close the zipper.
The fill level of a cushion:
- Filling height approx. 70%: This is how the Theraline pillow is delivered.
- approx. 60 - 80%: recommended for use as support
- approx. 50 - 70%: recommended during feeding, depending on body size
- approx. 40 - 60%: recommended for use as a bed border or baby nest*
* WATCH OUT!
Theraline advises against using it as a bed surround or baby nest before the end of the 12th month of life. Midwives and doctors are fundamentally opposed to the use of a pillow in the baby's sleep environment!
Refilling and emptying:
Original Theraline with refill opening:
We recommend using a second person to fill the cushion outside in a sheltered spot. If your Theraline nursing and support cushion has a refill opening, you should first pull the tab of the zipper, which is safely tucked in a tunnel, outward. Then, a second person should hold the opening open for you. Fill the cushion carefully and slowly. It is important to slide the tab of the zipper back to the end(!) in the tunnel, so that the filling cannot accidentally come out.
Cushion without refill opening:
When you want to refill a sewn-up cushion, you first need to unpick the seam. This is best done with a pair of scissors with a sharp point, such as a nail scissors. Then you can fill the cushion in the same way as a cushion with a refill opening. After that, you need to carefully sew the cushion closed again, so that the filling cannot come out.
