Care products

The care of your baby requires products that are gentle on the sensitive skin:

  • Hydrophilic cloths or muslin cloths(you can never have enough):These multifunctional cloths are indispensable at every stage. You use them as a towel after the bath, as a mat during diaper changes, as a burp cloth, or even as a little blanket on warm days. Because they dry quickly and are super soft, it's best to have a good stack of them at home.
  • Natural-based care products (think of brands like Naïf): The skin of a newborn baby is extra sensitive. Natural products contain no harsh substances or perfume, which protects and cares for the skin without the risk of irritation or allergies. Brands like Naïf are known for their gentle, safe formulations.

Butt cream, Wash cream, Baby cream, Baby balm are indispensable.

  • Fragrance-free baby wipes:You use these wipes multiple times a day, so gentleness is essential. Fragrance-free wipes are gentler on the skin and reduce the risk of red bottoms, eczema, or allergies. Preferably choose biodegradable or reusable options for extra sustainability.
  • Diapers, possibly washable: You use diapers from day one until your child is potty trained. Reusable diapers are an environmentally friendly alternative that can also save you a lot of money in the long run. They are also more skin-friendly and available in cheerful prints. With extra boosters, you ensure that your baby definitely does not leak.
  • Nursing pillow and changing pad cover: An ergonomic changing cushion with raised edges ensures that your baby lies safely and comfortably during diaper changes. Combine it with a soft cover that is easy to remove and washable – indispensable for accidents. Or choose from our favorite, the Matty from Leander, that doesn't even need a cover. Check out the pros and cons of this nursing pillow in our blog.

💡 Extra tip: A digital thermometer, nail clipper, and a nasal cleaner are often forgotten but extremely handy!

Sleep: safe sleeping comes first

Your baby sleeps an average of 16 hours a day, so investing in a safe sleep environment is essential:

  • Co-sleeper or cradle: A co-sleeper is a crib that you safely attach to your own bed. It promotes bonding, makes nighttime feedings easier, and reduces the risk of accidents during co-sleeping. A standalone crib is also a good option and convenient to take to other rooms.
  • Baby nest for daytime rest:ababynest is a soft, enclosed resting spot that gives your baby a sense of security – similar to the womb. Ideal for short naps during the day, in the living room or on the go. Just make sure to use it only under supervision.
  • Sleeping bags in various sizes:blankets can be dangerous in a crib because babies can get tangled in them.Sleeping bags are a safer and more comfortable alternative. They keep your baby warm without risk, and are available in various sizes and TOG ratings, adapted to the season.
  • White noise device or music cuddly toy: white noise or soft melodies help babies fall asleep more easily. They mask disturbing environmental noises and mimic the constant sound in the womb, which is soothing. Many musical cuddly toys also have a timer or sound activation, useful for when your baby wakes up in the middle of the night.

Nutrition: bottle, breast, or both?

Whether you choose breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or a combination, these basics always come in handy:

  • Feeding pillow (relieves your back and shoulders):afeeding pillowsupports your baby at the right height during feeding, so you can remain comfortably seated. It prevents tension in your neck, shoulders, and lower back – especially during longer feedings or at night.
  • Bottles and sterilizer: also if you are breastfeeding, are bottles handy for expressed milk so that someone else can occasionally take over the feeding.
  • Breast pump and storage jars for breast milk: For mothers who breastfeed, a breast pump is an essential tool for expressing milk. This way, you can build up a supply or feed at flexible times. With handy storage containers or bags, you can safely store breast milk in the refrigerator or freezer.
  • Bib bibs and burp cloths:no matter how neatly you try to feed, spilling is part of it.Bib bibs Protect your baby's clothes, and burp cloths are perfect for wiping mouths or catching reflux.

On the go: safe and comfortable

  • Car seat group 0+: mandatory and crucial for the safety of your baby in the car. A high-quality car seat for newborns supports the head and ensures a safe journey from day one. Choose a model that meets the strictest safety standards.
  • Carrier sling or baby carrier: ideal for short walks, shopping, or when your child wants to be close to you. Every baby carrier or baby wrap is different. Choose the one that suits you best. It supports the hips and back correctly and is also practical for on the go, where a stroller is not always convenient.
  • Stroller with carrycot:asturdy stroller with a flat carrycot offers your newborn baby a safe sleeping place while you stay mobile. Most models can later be converted into a stroller – convenient in the long run.
  • Care bag with plenty of storage space:a goodorganized diaper bag is worth gold. Space for diapers, wipes, spare clothes, bottles, snacks, and more, all within reach during outings or visits.
