This lovely baby sleeping bag is made of wonderfully soft velvet fabric. It has detachable sleeves. This way, you can transform this Jollein sleeping bag from a TOG value of 3.0 for the cold winter days to a TOG value of 2.0 for the cool nights in spring and autumn. This means you can use it for almost the entire year. A sleeping bag gives your baby a sense of security, provides warmth, and limits freedom of movement.

What are TOG values? 

TOG stands for Thermische Overall Klasse. It is a guideline to indicate to what extent, among other things, sleeping bags retain body heat. The higher the TOG value, the harder it is for heat to escape through the fabric. And the lower the TOG value, the more heat loss occurs.

Sleeping bags usually have a TOG value ranging from 0.5 TOG to 3.5 TOG. A very light, fresh summer sleeping bag is 0.5 TOG and a very warm winter sleeping bag is 3.5 TOG.

NOTE: TOG values are purely indicative. It is always important to check yourself whether your child is not too warm or too cold.

Your child's height is more important than age in determining the correct size of the sleeping bag. If the sleeping bag is too big, your baby may sink. Never use a sleeping bag if your little one's head fits through the neck opening. In a baby sleeping bag that is too small, your child will not be able to fully stretch their legs or have enough room to move, the distance between their feet and the bottom of the sleeping bag should not be less than 10 cm. Therefore, always make sure you have the right size sleeping bag.

How do you use the Cocoon 2-in-1 swaddle sleeping bag?

Lay the Cocoon baby swaddle sleeping bag on a flat surface with the zip open and the arm snaps closed. Place your baby on top of the Cocoon baby sleeping bag. Put their legs into the sleeping bag and zip it up, with your baby's hands in the desired position (at their sides or across their chest).

To change a nappy or cool your baby down, unzip the bottom of the sleeping bag to free their legs and lower body. Zip it back up when you're done. Add a layer underneath for warmth if needed.

To transition to sleeping with arms out when your baby shows signs of rolling, free their arms by opening the snaps at the shoulders. We recommend doing this over several days, one arm at a time.

If your newborn does not like being placed in a swaddle sleeping bag, it is safe to let them sleep in the Cocoon baby sleeping bag from the start with their arms out.
